Obituary for Willie Mae Jones

Ms. Willie Mae Jones was born in Sparta, Georgia to the late Martha Crosby Jones and Henry Jones on October 9, 1920. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1926 with her mother, and little brother, Benjamin “Pug”, where they settled in “New Town” at 2608 West 5th Street. Mama accepted Christ at an early age where she served faithfully in her youth at West Union Baptist Church. Willie Mae was employed by Draper’s Poultry, and worked for many years until her retirement.

Ms. Willie Mae Jones was called to her eternal resting place on May 30, 2015. She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Crosby Jones; father, Henry Jones; brothers, Henry Jones and Benjamin Jones.

Ms. Willie Mae Jones leaves to cherish her precious memories and times shared with her daughter, Janice Jones; grandchildren, Cynthia Smith (Michael, deceased), Alexis McClain, Sheree McClain (deceased), Phyllis McClain, Karen McClain, David (Dione) Rainge, Michael Rainge, Sr., Cheryl Evans (Vernon), Margo Jones (KiKo), Omar White (Tara), Pastor Ronald White (Adrienne), Lemuel “Darnell” White (Teresa); 46 great grandchildren; 30 great great grandchildren; 3 great great great grandchildren; a dear and beloved cousin, Carrie Larkins; and other family members.

The funeral service for Willie Mae Jones will be held 11:00am June 6th at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street. The visitation will be June 5th at 5:00pm - 7:00pm TODAY.
