Obituary for Hazel "Nana" Perry

Mrs. Hazel A. Perry was born on August 9, 1943 in Tifton, Georgia to the late Jimmie and Jamie James. She attended Northwestern Junior/Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida graduating in the Class of 1961.

Hazel was married to Willie Lee Perry who preceded her in death after 25 Years of marriage. Hazel was the Owner/Operator of Ebony and Ivory Beauty Salon and a member of OBGA. She was employed by the State of Florida, State Board of Health. She retired after 35 years of service.

Hazel was a loving and devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and friend. Hazel departed this life on Wednesday, June 29, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jimmie and Jamie James; husband, Willie Perry; brothers, Robert James, Freddie James, Willie James; sister-in-law’s, Martha P. Mulligan and Pearlie Griffin.

Hazel leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter and caregiver, Tonya Perry; devoted son, Harold James; grandsons, Dwight Cicero Jr. and Bruce E. Alexander IV; great-grandson, Bruce E. Alexander V; sisters, Bessie Bryant, Linda Brazer (Ronald), Cora Hall (Osborne), Gloria Williams (Reggie), Juanita James, Yvonne James (Baby Girl); brothers, Paul Cooper, Jessie James, Frank James, Carl James, Jimmy James (Baby Boy); sister-in-law’s, Essie Wilson, Bearnice Beasley, Lillie Hogue, Louise Edmonds, Delois “Dee” Watson, Clara Ferguson, Vera Lightner; brother-in-law’s, Jesse Perry, John Perry, Reverend C.Y. Perry, Russ Perry; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Hazel Perry departed this life Wednesday June 29, 2016, She leaves to cherish her memories a devoted daughter and caregiver: Tonya Perry; devoted son Harold James; grandsons Dwight Cicero Jr,, Bruce E. Alexander IV and Great Grandson-Bruce E. Alexander V. and a number other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held 11AM Saturday, July 9th, 2016 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM , Friday, at the mortuary.
