Obituary for JESSIE James WRIGHT

Jessie James Wright, Sr. affectionately called “Father...” was born on December 24, 1931 to Johnny and Alice Wright in Shaw, Mississippi. Jessie attended school in Shaw Mississippi, later joining and serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked in Communications in the Alaskan Territory before it became a state.

During Jessie’s public career, he has worked in the produce field, as a sandblaster in a shipping yard, and a floor and wall tile installer. Jessie was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church. He married Aquilla Robin in Jacksonville, Florida and to this union five children were born, that includes a set of twins; three boys; and two girls.

Jessie departed this life on Wednesday, February 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Jessie James Wright, Jr.; siblings, Betty, Johnny Jr., Lawyer, Laura, Matthew, and Ruthie Mae.

Jessie leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: two sons, Carlos (Vernita) and Theodore; two daughters, Deborah Wyche (Anthony) and Carlyn Clark (Theodore) of Jacksonville, Florida; brothers, Samuel Wright (Louise) of Jacksonville, Florida and Nathaniel Wright of Chicago, Illinois; sisters, Rose Love (Earl) of Chicago, Illinois, Mary Rogers (James), Christine Spears (Dannie) both of Memphis, Tennessee, and Ernestine Bridges (Richard) of Flint, Michigan; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives, and friends; a special friend, Mary Kelley.
