Bernard Severe Bennefield was born on April 2, 1961 to William and Dorothy Bennefield in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended the Public Schools in Duval County, graduating from Jean Ribault Senior High School. Bernard served in the United States Army, after leaving the military he meet Diane Holmes in Jacksonville, 2008 and later they were married in Folkston, Georgia 2013. Bernard was a loving and devoted husband and father and a active pillar in his community. In his profession he was a spray painter and welder.

Bernard departed this life on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jarvis Davis and Antonio Davis; aunt, Kate McKenzie; uncle, Jessie McKenzie.

Bernard leaves to cherish his memory: a wife, Diane Holmes Bennefield; children, Bernita Harrell (Marquise), Sherice Bennefield, and Andrina Williams Moss; 5 grandchildren; mother, Dorothy Bennefield; father, William Bennefield; mother-in-law, Dorothy Robinson; sisters, Rosalyn Winfrey (Ivory), Ilene McKenzie, Shalandria McKenzie, Kaye McKenzie, and Tytiana McKenzie; brothers, Michael Davis (Keyonta), Jeremy McKenzie, Michael McKenzie, Morris McKenzie; stepchildren, Shawntel Holmes and Edward Holmes; sisters-in-law, Barida Robinson and Mary Robinson; brothers-in-law, James Fordham (Josetta) and Johnnie Fordham (Deborah); aunts and uncles, Johnnie McKenzie, James McKenzie, Samuel Mitchell, Curtis McKenzie (Martha); other relatives and friends.
