Obituary for Joyce L Bowman

Mrs. Joyce Louise Bowman was born on July 12, 1935 in Apalachicola, Florida to Drucilla and Mike Bolin. Sister Bowman completed high school by age sixteen and attended Edward Waters College and Jacksonville University in pursuit of her business degree. She worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield as a Director and retired after thirty five years of committed service.

Sister Bowman was a devoted member of Love Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in many roles. Her love was geared towards the care and compassion she had for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

On Thursday, April 13, 2017 Joyce Louise Bowman, with her family at her side, departed this life quietly. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Obie W. Bowman; beloved children, Michael Bowman and Jamelle Thompson.

Sister Bowman leaves to cherish her memory two daughters: Retha Bowman and Obietta Langley; three granddaughters, Michelle Bowman, Allyssa Rickerson (Tavares Sr.) and Jocelyn Williams (Charles); four great-grandsons, Tavares Rickerson Jr, Tavarion Rickerson, Kobe Williams, and Reginald Bolden; three great-granddaughters, JaZaria Williams, Chloe Williams, and Micayla Williams; daughter-in-law, Barbara Bowman; son-in-law, David Langley; special daughters in Christ, Leslie Parker and Wiletta Liptrot; godsons, Darnell Smith and Joel Smith; best and dearest friend of over fifty years, Annette Samuels; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
