Obituary for Markell Mills

Markell Mills
Markell Rashaun Mills was born on December 04, 1985 in San Pablo, California to Pastor Jesse and Janice Mills. Markell attended Elementary and Middle Schools in Hayward, California. After the family relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, he graduated from First Coast High School, Class of 2004. Markell attended Morehouse University in Atlanta, Georgia and Missouri University of Science and Technology (S &T), in Rolla, Missouri with a goal of earning dual degrees in Architectural Engineering. While attending S &T, Markell became affiliated with New Dimensional Christian Ministries. He served as an Elder, Youth Minister, Sunday School Teacher, Administrator and over the Sound and Video Department. He spearheaded the after-school tutoring, youth praise band and he was an intricate part of the Single’s Ministry.

Markell accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age, under the pastor ship of his dad, Pastor Jesse Mills and had a heart to diligently serve the Lord, doing all that he could for the Kingdom of God. He had a passion to mentor and train children not only in life and music, but also in the Word of God.

Markell was a very gifted child of God, a skillful musician and artist who was able to draw anything including doing the illustrations for the children books, “The Invisible Sword”. He taught himself how to proficiently play the bass guitar, and keyboard as well as skillfully playing the drums.

Markell was the Owner/Designer/Artist/Creator/Maker at MRM Graphic Designs, LLC. He was recently employed as a Design Engineer at Killion Communication Consultants, Inc. and as an Addiction Recovery Technician at Pathways Community Health.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pastor Jesse and Janice Mills; brother, Minister Ronald(Ronny) Mills; maternal grandparents, Square and Letitia Padgett; and cousin, Erica Padgett-Sharp. Markell will be greatly missed by his loving & devoted family: siblings, Tamika, Minister Nahshon (Agnes),Sr., DeJuan, Jamaal (Ebonny), Jeffre (Annita), Pastor Eric (Tonnie), & Kathi Mills; maternal aunts and uncles, Cornelia, Douglas (Gloria), Edward “Don” (Patricia – deceased) , and Claireca Padgett; paternal aunt and uncle, Alberta Morgan and MacArthur Mills; nieces and nephews, Nahshon, Jr., Naarah and TreJuan Mills, Niquia (Benjamin) Puryear, Quiana (Marcus) Hunter, Yviana (Jovanny) Reyes, Ronald, Jr.(Riece), Brandon, Phillip, Eric Isaiah Mills, Rydell and Ashley Tolliver; great nieces and nephews, Javion, Brooklyn, Nazir, Jamir, Dymonye, Gabriela, Jilyna, Jaida, and Nia; sister-in-law, Phyllis Mills; and a host of other relatives and friends.
