Mr. Bobby Joe Kirkland affectionately called “SOUL TRAIN” was born on February 25, 1945 in Newville, Alabama to the union of Bozzie and Corrine Kirkland. He attended the public schools in Newville, Alabama. Bobby accepted Christ in his life as his Lord and Savior during his early childhood.

Mr. Kirkland departed this life on Thursday, September 7, 2017, 6:36 p.m., at St Vincent’s Hospital, Jacksonville, FL the Lord called one of his angels. He was preceded into the heavenly gates by his parents, Bozzie and Corrine Kirkland; his loving brother, Marvin Kirkland; daughter, Mary Ann Kirkland; and his precious grandson Geraud Smith.

On March 19, 1963, Bobby was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Eunice Mae Corbitt. To this union two beautiful daughters were born. They enjoyed each other’s love for fifty-four years, six months, seven days and eighteen hours, where they resided most of their life in Jacksonville, Florida.

Mr. Kirkland loved his family and work. He was employed with Ryder Truck PIE for twelve years and Yellow Freight Company for thirty-one years, after which he retired in 2007.

Mr. Kirkland leaves to cherish his legacy and celebrate his precious memories: a devoted wife, Eunice M. Kirkland; daughter, Patricia F. Kirkland; granddaughter, Latrice Smith; great-grandchildren, Rodney Oates and Jermaine Fossett; brothers, James David Kirkland (Gloria) and Willie E. Kirkland (Lena); sister, Gwendolyn Allen; mother-n-law, Annie P. Corbitt; three brother-n-laws; eleven sisters-in-laws; two godsons; nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends rejoicing to have shared his love.

The funeral service for Bobby Joe Kirkland will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 16th, 2017 at the Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 2407 S. L. Badger Cir. E. The visitation will be held 5 - 7:00 pm, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book and view the video tribute @ www.tswarden.com.
