Obituary for Allen Lawrence Williams

Allen Lawrence Williams
Allen Lawrence Williams was born on July 12, 1953 in Dorchester County, South Carolina. He was the 11th child of the late John Henry Williams and Rosalie J. Williams. Allen was educated in the Public School System of Dorchester County. Allen accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Cannan United Methodist Church in Ridgeville, SC. He moved to St. Stephens, South Carolina, where he later became a business owner, having opened a full-service garage. Allen was a very skilled mechanic, who could look at any vehicle and tell you what was wrong with it. He had a God given talent. He loved his family and loved making everyone laugh and smile. He never met a stranger and could melt your heart with his smile and jokes. He came to Jacksonville to work on a car (over 20+ years ago) and made Jacksonville his home. Allen was a kind soul who could never say no. He was always willing to do what he could to help anyone who needed him. He would spend countless hours working on a car and never complained.

Allen transitioned from life on earth to God’s glory, Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his loving sisters, Thanks P. Verneice Williams, Theresa Hughey and Carolyn Whaley (Charleston, SC); brother, John Henry Williams (Jacksonville, FL); the love of his life, Ophelia Montgomery.

Allen leaves to cherish his memory and will be truly missed by his children: Margie Montgomery Legree, Leon Montgomery (Linda) and William Pressley (Wanda); 7 grandchildren all of St. Stephens, South Carolina; brothers, Charles E. Williams (Jacksonville, FL) and Aaron E. Williams (South Carolina); sisters, Willie Mae Wiggins (Jacksonville, FL), Flora Rogers (New York), Mary A. Davis, Susie L. Mayo, Reverend Edna Dingle Stokes and Alice M. West (Jonathan) all of (South Carolina); sister-in-law, Betty Williams (Jacksonville, FL); just like a mother, Mrs. Jannie Bell Montgomery; like brothers, Ira Montgomery (Mary) and David Montgomery; aunt, Hattie Mae Nesbit (Jacksonville, FL); uncle, Albert Jenkins (Pittsburgh, PA); a dear friend, Angie, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
