William Jerome Kirby was born on March 18, 1952 in Pasco, Florida. He was the second son born to Odell and Ruby Kirby. Jerome received Christ in his early childhood years under the care of his uncle, the late Leroy Moody. Jerome spent his early childhood in Jesup and Brunswick Georgia. He moved to Jacksonville, in 1967 and attended the local schools graduating from William M. Raines High School, Class of 1971.

William moved to Chicago, Illinois shortly after graduation. He was employed with Packy Webb Ford and later became employed as a truck driver, he worked this job until his health declined.

William met and married Mrs. Shelly Houtz, from this union two beautiful girls were born, Tamara and Jenna.

William departed this life on Thursday, April 26, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Odell Kirby; brother, David Kirby; uncle, Leroy Moody; aunt, Honey Moody; three nieces, Wendy Ousley, Anita Jackson and Tanika Kirby.

William leaves to cherish his memories, two daughters, Tamara Kirby and Jenna Kirby; mother, Ruby Kirby; ex-wife but good friend, Shelly Houtz; brother, George Kirby; sister, Queen Rogers (James); two special nephews, Auja Rogers and Ausha Rogers; a special niece, Ellexia Taylor-Norris; a special friend, Cassandra; most helpful friend, Denise and many nephews, nieces, a host of cousins and many friends.
