Gussie Lee Jenkins was born in Davisboro, Georgia on September 29, 1943 to her parents, Ozzie Mae Brinson and Arthur Mason. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, later joining the Bethel Family, and received her education at The New Stanton High School.

She later met and married Willie Jenkins in Jacksonville, Florida on December 16, 1963. From this union was born one daughter, Tammy Jenkins-Jones.

Gussie departed this life on Friday, January 31, 2020, and was preceded in death by her mother, Ozzie Mae Brinson; father, Arthur Mason; and brother, James Brinson.

She leaves to mourn her passing: husband, Willie Jenkins; daughter, Tammy Jenkins-Jones; grandchildren, Ta’Carra McClendon (Michael) and Daren Deonta’ Hicks; great-grandchildren, Jayvian Kinlaw, Ta’mauri McClendon, and Onyx McClendon; a special uncle, Zebbie Brinson; and a host of nieces, cousins, in-laws, and many sorrowing friends.

The funeral service for Gussie Lee Jenkins will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 8th, 2020 at the Bethel Baptist Institutional Church 215 Bethel Baptist Street Jacksonville, FL 32202. The visitation will be 5 - 7pm, Friday, February 7th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
