Kathy Ann Thomas was born in Sylvester, Georgia on May 11, 1950 to the late Ola Mae Dawson and Tom Barney Jr. Kathy loved the Lord. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ. As her health begin to fail, she was able to attend services at the North Jax Rehab and Nursing Home facility.
Kathy Ann attended public schools in Duval County. She attended A.L. Lewis, Mary McLeod Bethune Jr. High and William M. Raines High Sr. She attended Albany State and Edwards College.
Kathy Ann was united in holy matrimony to Darryl Thomas on August 28, 1972. The union was blessed with two children.
Kathy Ann departed this life on Monday, August 4, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ola Mae and Tom Barney Jr, and grandson, Isaiah Fort.
Kathy Ann leaves to mourn her passing: two children, Rachel Thomas of Mathews, North Carolina and Miriam Thomas of Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one brother, Stanley Barney Sr. (Tina) of Charleston, SC; five sisters, Mary Barney Kirkland of Jacksonville, FL, Rowena Colston (Ronald) of Midway, FL, Carol Davis (Eddie) of Jacksonville, FL, Angalyn Conner (Luster) of Batesville, MS, and Benita Terry (Bernard) of Jacksonville, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and a special care giver, Felicia Jones.
The funeral service for Kathy Ann Thomas will be held 9:30 AM Saturday, August 8th, 2020 at the Restlawn Cemeteries South 3301 Moncrief Road West.
