Obituary for Aldonia Clemons
Mrs. Aldonia Mills Clemons was born on March 21, 1927 to the late Merrie Johnson Mills and Robert Mills, Sr. in Jacksonville, Florida. Aldonia was reared in the Sweetwater Community and attended local schools and churches in Duval and Bradford Counties. She retired from the Duval County Public School System in March 1992. Having no children of her own, Aldonia was known as “Aunt Donia” and godmother to Janice and many, many others.
Aldonia answered her heavenly call to her Lord and Savior on October 10, 2019, at Orange Park Medical Center in Orange Park, Florida. Aldonia was the second oldest of seven siblings. She was preceded in death by her siblings and spouses: Clemetine (Henry) Jones; Robert (Luvenia G.) Mills, Jr.; Horace (Mary K.) Mills and Earl (Mynella S.) Mills; brothers-in-law, William Washington, Sr. and Fred Thomas; adopted sisters, Isalene Jordan and Bernice (Bunchie) Jones.
Aldonia will be remembered in the hearts of her husband, Frank Clemons III; stepdaughters, Markita and Tiffany Clemons; sisters, Mercedes Washington and Donna Gloria Thomas (Houston, Texas); brother, Arthur (Ruby) George; a devoted family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends; devoted cousins, Clara Campbell and Evelyn Kirkland; devoted neighbors and friends, Mr. James Hall, Alice Jean Dixon, The Leggett Family, Starke, Florida families and friends and the Posey Family (SC); special thanks to her Caregiver, Gloria Washington.
The funeral service for Aldonia Clemons will be held 10:00 am Friday, October 25th, 2019 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 9 AM -10 AM, Friday, October 25th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Borden Cemetery.
