LIFE’S REFLECTIONS OF A
VIRTUOUS WOMAN

Mrs. Altemese Hayward Rivers was born on April 29,
1931 to Mr. & Mrs. Leroy and Lucretia Hayward. She
passed away peacefully while surrounded by loving family
members on February 22, 2016.

She received her education in a local school of Duval
County, school systems. She graduated from Stanton High
school in 1949.

Early in life, Mrs. Altemese H. Rivers, accepted Christ and
became a member of Dayspring Baptist Church under the
leadership of the late Pastor Cyrus Weaver. Later she married
Raymond Rivers in 1954. She joined The Sanctuary at Mt.
Calvary under Dr. John A. Newman, Pastor.

She was employed with Jacksonville University. She was a
Food Service Manager for all of her career.
Mrs. Altemese H. Rivers was preceded in death by her
husband Raymond Rivers, (sister) Evelyn A. Hayward Hicks,
and (brothers) Henry Hayward; Carlton Hayward and son
Ronald Rivers.

She leaves behind to cherished her sweet memory, her
children Bernard L. Hayward (Shirley), Brenda Hayward,
Lavette Susan Tillman (Michael), Russell Hill (Cynthia),
LaPanza M. Houston (Keith), Goddaughter Tisha Mooring,
Judy Ann Rivers-Small. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other
relatives and friends.
