Obituary for Anita Evelyn James
Anita Evelyn James affectionately known as “Nita”, age 67, passed away peacefully April 27, 2020. She was born February 28, 1953 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Hezekiah James, Jr. and Gloria Anderson Steward.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Hezekiah James, III (“Chucky”). She was the second oldest child born of this union.
Anita was a graduate of Old Stanton High School, Class of 1970. In her younger years, she was employed by Wesley Manor Nursing Home. She then went on to work for B and J Plastic. Anita was a faithful employee of Alsco Linen, formerly known as National Linen Service, for 32 years.
Anita was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great- grandmother. On April 27, 2020, God stepped in and said “no more”. No more pain, suffering, or sickness, come”take your rest’.
Anita leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughters: Brendella James, LaShawn Hamp (John), and LaGloria Bronner; 7 grandchildren, Roosevelt James, Shikita James, Brittany James, Avery James, Breona Bradford, Katron Mayhew, and Dejah Alexander; 2 great-grandchildren Ja’Keyle James and Morgan James; siblings: Ronald (Laverne) of Atlanta, GA, Morris, Vanessa Jones (Richard) Atlanta, GA, Gregory, Ruth, Gianetta, and Douglas (Gia) LaNorris Linder, and Shirley Davis of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; aunt, Claudia Linder;
and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other sorrowing friends.
The funeral service for Anita Evelyn James will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 2nd, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 3:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, May 1st, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Lofton Cemetery.
