Obituary for Annette Delorse Bryant

Annette Delorse Bryant was born in Jacksonville, Florida on November 16, 1938, the first of eleven children to her parents, James Henry Cook Sr. and Annie Bell (Mercer). She with a loving heart, confessed Christ and loved the Lord as a member of Faust Temple #2 COGIC. She attended schools in Jacksonville, FL and later furthered her education in the field of nursing at Florida Junior College (FJC) resulting in over twenty years of service as a home-health nurse. She later met and married Henry Bryant Jr. in Jacksonville, FL and from this union was born two sons, Harry A. Bryant and Henry Bryant Jr. III; and two daughters, Annette D. (Williams) and Nancy D. (Goggins).

Annette departed this life on January 5, 2020 and was preceded in death by her parents, the late James Henry Sr. and Annie Bell Cook; daughter, Annette D. (Williams); grandson, Shawn Bryant; sister, Cornelia Cook; and brothers, James, Hardie, Huron, and Hector Cook.

Annette with a bold spirit and impeccable mind was a woman of wisdom. She loved her family, cherished her children and was always overjoyed when spending time with her 10 grands and 18 great grands. Her infectious smile would brighten her environment and provoke the smiles of others. In her leisure, she loved watching football, basketball, and would spend hours completing cross-word puzzles. However, her favorite pastime was fishing; sitting on the fish creek, with a few reels and rods. She with her great sense of humor provoked and loved the laughter of others and enjoyed life to the fullest. Of all who knew her, whether it be with family or friends, her voice, spoken in love, with clarity of understanding, and with authority would surely captivate your attention. As she would say, “I can show you better than I can tell you!”

Annette leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Harry Bryant, Nancy Goggins (Delma), and Henry Bryant, III (Sandra); brothers: Freeman Cook (Marguerite), Sam Cook (Annette), and Lionel Cook (Sarah); sisters: Margaret Whitfield and Velma Aiken; grandchildren: Travell Thomas (Tiffany), Nicole Simmons, Miesha Diaz (Anthony), Phineshea Goggins, Corey Bryant (Janae), Nikisha Mew, Ronald Bryant, and DeAngelo Bryant; and a host of other relatives and friends.
