Annie Pearl Dick was born on September 10, 1945 in Eastman, Georgia to Sallie Ward and Jame (James) Davis. Annie Pearl was the seventh child of eleven siblings. During her childhood, Annie Pearl attended the Duval County Public Schools in Jacksonville, Florida. In her younger days, she worked various jobs in Jacksonville. However, to date her biggest accomplishment was being a loving, caring and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On March 6, 1995, Annie Pearl married the love of her life, Mr. Billy Mack Dick. They loved and cared for each other through sickness and health until his death in 2005.
One of Annie Pearl’s favorite hobbies was fishing. In fact, she would travel back and forth from Pooler, Georgia to Jacksonville to fish with her son-in-law, Mark Sr. and grandson, Mark Jr. at Browns Creek, or her nephew, Richard Sr. at Mayport Naval Base. Also, Annie Pearl loved to cook for her family and friends. There was not anything that she could not cook or tell you how to cook. As the matriarch, Annie Pearl passed down many of her recipes to her daughters and granddaughters. When anyone visited her home, she made you feel at home and you always left with a full stomach and 20 extra pounds. Anyone who knew Annie Pearl knew that her TV was always on Westerns or Science Fiction shows.
Annie Pearl departed this life November 23, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, James Davis; mother, Sallie Ward; siblings, Benny Bell, Charles “CJ” James, Gary Ward, Rebecca Swan, Nathaniel Swan, and George LaGair and a loving nephew, Marise Houston.
