Audrie Elnora Smith, of Jacksonville, FL, was the daughter of Grace and Alex Carroll. On July 19, 1942, she was born in Titusville, FL. It was here in Jacksonville where she received her formal education. She attended Matthew W. Gilbert High School. On Saturday, June 5, 2021, God opened up the heavens to summon her home.
Our Mom was beautiful, kind, and selfless. On May 15, 1959, Audrie married Cleve Smith. He loved her at first sight, this union brought forth five children: Tyshell, Windy, Sandra, Barron, and Teki.
Our Mom loved the Lord and had unwavering faith. She was a faithful member of Abyssinia Missionary Baptist Church, where she served in the choir and as a Missionary. She absolutely loved being a mother and grandmother. She loved us, encouraged and praise us; she comforted and cared for us until the very end. She had a way of making everyone around her feel special.
Our Mom had a commanding presence, with great energy, a warm smile and a wonderful sense of humor; all encased in beauty and elegance. She was so loving and her generosity boundless. She was a provider, a teacher, a protector, our everything. Our Mom loved to cook, she always cooked more than enough, just in case one of us dropped by, which was often because she was an awesome cook.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Carroll, father, Alex Carroll, brothers, Louis Wright, Oscar Carroll, and a sister, Sarah Brimm.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one son, Barron Smith; four daughters, Teki Parker (Cornell), Sandra Smith, Windy Flower and Tyshell Smith; seven grandchildren, Jamal Hawkins, Kerrick Jackson (Kena), Ashley Butler, Ebonie Smith, Bria Parker, Barron Smith Jr., Maya Smith; two brothers, Alex Carroll, Sr. (Linda) and James Carroll; one sister, Grace Gilbert; sister friend, Helen Conyers; and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and amazing friends.
