Benager Sykes, Jr. was born on January 25, 1951 to Catherine Sykes and the late Benager Sykes, Sr. He was educated in the local schools of Duval County. Benager joined Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. He later accepted Christ at Unity Christian Church under the Pastorage of Rev. Ray Jones.

Benager departed this life on Wednesday, May 30,2018 at St. Vincent Hospice Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father, Benager Sykes, Sr.; two sons, Jerimiah Douglas and Benager Douglas; a brother, Michael Sykes.

Benager leaves to cherish his memories a very devoted and loving mother, Catherine Sykes; a life long companion, Jackie King; one daughter, Tashell Sykes; two sons, Shawn Douglas and Casey Sykes; three sisters, Louise Jenkins, Annette Bacon (Roosevelt) and Sandra Sykes; 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
