Obituary for Betty Wiggins

Betty Jean Wiggins was born on August 15, 1938 to the late Jasper and Helen Mitchell Sr. Before her health declined; Betty was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Bradenton, Florida, under the leadership of the late Pastor McMillan. There she served on the usher board and was a member of the church choir. Professionally Mrs. Wiggins was a certified nurse at Riverside Nursing Home until retirement. Over the years, she was also an active member of the Girl Scouts as a troop leader, and an active Eastern Star.

Betty departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. She was married, and preceded in death by her husband Mr. George S. Wiggins.

Betty leaves to cherish her memory: a brother, Jasper Mitchell Jr.; uncle, James Burls; her children, Angelia Guthrie, Apostle Linda Webb, William Wiggins, Helen Blocker, Samuel Wiggins, Sidney Wiggins, Ruby Hughes, and Bertha Bessent; grandchildren, Marlo Dickens (Veronica), Tangelia Aikens (Terry), Antwon Montgomery, Morris Coppage, Maurice Wiggins, Mario Wiggins, Dominique Wiggins, Williams Sims Jr., and Tiffany Blocker; twenty-four great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, her long time best friend, Ms.Joanne Palmer; goddaughter, Gloria Williams, as well as a host of cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Betty Wiggins will be held 11:00 am WEDNESDAY, January 3rd, 2018 at the Mt. Herman Missionary Baptist Church, 5527 Redpoll Ave. The visitation will be 4 - 6:00 pm, Tuesday, at the mortuary. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
