Obituary for Bruce Wendell Richardson

Bruce Wendell Richardson was born on November 30, 1964 to Loretha and Walter Richardson, Jr. in Jacksonville, Florida. He confessed Christ at the age of 10 and was baptized by Rev. Jim Dixon in Mt. Olive Primitive Baptist Church. Bruce attended the local schools of Duval County graduating from William M. Raines High School. He also received his Bachelor’s Degree from Edward Waters College. Bruce met and married LaVonda Michelle Austin on February 22, 1992 in Zion Hope Baptist Church and to this union 2 daughters, Nyla and Bailey were born. Bruce was a hard-working man as he served at Florida Blue for many years as a Safety and Security Supervisor. He was also a member of the Masonic Order and served as a Worthy Patron.

Bruce departed this life on Saturday, November 10, 2018. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nyla Alissa Richardson; mother, Loretha Richardson; father, Walter Richardson, Jr.; great-grandmother, Teretha S. Murray.

Bruce leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife, LaVonda Richardson; daughter, Bailey Richardson; mother-in-love, Bettye Banks; sisters, Marcella Richardson, Cheryl Richardson and Sylvia Richardson; sisters-in-love, Regina Bodison (Ralph) and Darlene Gamble; brother-in-love, Herschell Banks, Jr.; niece, Ranada Bodison; nephews, Anthony Miller, Brandon Backmon (Raja) and Ralph Bodison III; great nieces, Anyea Bodison, Makayla Miller and Blair Backmon; great nephews, Jordan Miller and Andre Bodison; special friends, Walden Parker, Gail Holley, Emily Tillman, Dr. Clauda Young, Corine Steward and Elaine Kearse; and a host of other relatives, friends and colleagues.

The funeral service for Bruce Wendell Richardson will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 17th, 2018 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, Florida 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 pm 7:00 pm , Friday, November 16th, 2018 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
