Obituary for Carrie Bell Kincade

Carrie B. Kincade passed away on January 6, 2021. She was born Friday, January 21, 1938, in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended local schools in Jacksonville and graduated from Stanton Senior High School in 1955. While a student at Stanton, Carrie was a member of the marching band. After graduation she attended Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee where she was initiated into the Alpha Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in Spanish. Carrie met her husband, Robert, of over fifty-one years at Tennessee State University. After leaving Nashville the young couple moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin before permanently settling in Jacksonville, Florida. She began teaching Spanish at James Weldon Johnson Junior High School. She later went to work for the Florida Department of Children and Families and after thirty years retired from the Agency of Healthcare Administration. Carrie was preceded in death by her youngest daughter Kathy in 1988 and her husband Robert in 2009.

Carrie converted to Catholicism during her high school years. She was baptized and became a member of St. Pius V at the West State and Lee Street locations. She was a devout Catholic and prayed for her family, coworkers, friends, and friends of friends. After her youngest daughter’s death, Carrie began attending weekday Mass at the Basilica of Immaculate Conception, and continued this tradition for thirty years. She was a third order Carmelite and pure in her devotion to family and friends.

Carrie is survived by her daughters, Karen, Valerie and Kelley Kincade; two beloved granddaughters, Sevon Abramson and Khloe Thomas; nieces, Sonijia Stevens (Dwayne) and Latacha Fifer (Torian), Memphis, Tennessee; aunt, Antoinette Neals, Monroe Township, New Jersey; cousins, The Honorable Felix Neals (Betty), Long Island City, New York, Felice Neals, New York City, New York, Felix Reynold Neals (Arleen), Snohomish, Washington, Julien Neals (Lauren), East Orange, New Jersey, Neal Neals, Dayton, New Jersey and Huerta Neals (Eliza), Jersey City, New Jersey; sister-in-law, Maggie Thompson, Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, John Martin, Memphis, Tennessee.

Carrie leaves to cherish her longtime friends, Jacquelyn Small Thomas, Richmond, Virginia, Doris Rutledge, Jacksonville, Florida; former coworkers/ friends Patricia Gionet, Lula Brown, Maple Jones, Lisa Broward, Joyce Johnson, Jacksonville, Florida, and Danny McElrath, Tallahassee, Florida. Fathers of the granddaughters, Michael Abramson, Haifa, Israel and Gershon Thomas, Jacksonville, Florida.

Carrie B. Kincade passed away January 6th, 2021. The funeral service will be held 12PM, THURSDAY, January 14th, 2021 at the Church of the Crucifixion, 3183 Edgewood Ave. W.,32209.
