Obituary for Charles Haney

Charles Haney was born on September 3,1946 to Will Haney and Helen (Johnson) Haney. He attended the local schools of Duval County, graduating from New Stanton High School in Jacksonville, Florida.

Charles worked for Ivy Steel and Wire where he retired after 44 years of service. He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He was a great storyteller; his favorite quotes were (to make a long story short" and " the moral to the story is....)

On Wednesday, November 16, 2022 Charles went home to be in the presence of the Lord. He was preceded in death by both parents, Will and Helen Haney; sister, Carolyn Haney; mother-in-law, Isabel Smith; sisters-in-law Susan Henly and Alice Boyd; and brother-in-law, Robert Yeartie.

Charles married Betty Smith and to their union four children were born.

Charles leaves to mourn his passing, a devoted wife of 57 years, Betty Smith Haney; children, Jacqueline Sampson (Phillip), Charles A. Haney (Edith), Rickey Haney (Carolyn), Ronda Williams (Joseph), Andrenia Green (Bobby), Fredrick Brown (Nicole), and Daryl McCormick.

A loving sister, Bobbie Yeartie; sister-in-law, Sarah Smith; brothers-in-law, Larry Boyd, Michael Henly and James Williamson.

17 Grandchildren: Justin Sampson, John Sampson, Phyllis Walker (Carl), Thomas Sampson, Joshua Haney, Paul Haney, Whitney Haney, LaTeisha Nelson, Jasmine Owens, Joseph Williams Jr., Travis Haney (Stephanie), Ryan Brown, Meagan Brown, Sydney Brown, DerMarr McCormick, DaNajah McCormick, and DaMaria McCormick.

23 Great Grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to a host of supportive family and friends, two dear cousins, Bertha Rowe and Clarence Sampson; a beloved cousin/brother, Wilton Moore; special friend, Bernard Jackson; and his four-legged buddy, Roscoe.
