Obituary for Christine Zellers (Vereen)

Christine Vereen Zellers was born in Jacksonville Florida on February 8, 1947 to the late John C. Vereen, Sr. and Mildred Stokes. She then was blessed to be fathered by the late Elder Willie James Harvey, Sr. Christine attended the local schools in Jacksonville, worked 45 years and retired from the Duval County School Board, and worked 10 years at Baptist Medical Center. She was a member of Community Freewill Baptist Church where she attended faithfully until Alzheimer's took over.

Christine departed this life on Monday, April 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her fathers, John C. Vereen, Sr. and Rev. Willie James Harvey, Sr.; brothers, Henry Vereen, John C. Vereen, Elder Lewis D. Vereen, Sr., and James Vereen, Sr.; beloved son, Adam C. Zellers, Sr.; and grandson, Anthony Roundtree.

Christine leaves to mourn her passing, her loving mother, Mildred Harvey; devoted daughter, Trina Life (Jarvis Williams); loving son, Troy Vereen; grandsons, Henry Zellers, Kinard Life, Sr., Adam Zellers, Jr. Tre’Sean Pittman, Adam Roundtree, Aushawn Roundtree, and Co’Val Mathis; granddaughters, Banolda Life, Ebony McLauren, Tronisha Vereen, Ta’Kara Mathis, and Arian Zellers; great-grandsons, Kinard Life, Jr., Orion Gardiner, Ky’nard Life, Jaquelle Macon, Jy’quelle Macon, Cayden Jefferson, and Jah’Mir Jones; great-granddaughters, Branyia Lewis, Lauren Macon, August Zellers, Yarri Zellers, Londyn Woolbright, Aubree Zellers, Kinari Life, Keilani Life, and Kynnedi Life; brothers, Deacon Willie Harvey, Jr. (Alise), Elder Calvin Harvey, Sr. (Veronica), Minister Jerry Harvey (Cassandra), Donald Harvey (Deidre); sisters, Missionary Annette Cook, Florrie Merkison (Rev. Ambrose), Gloria Stevens (Deacon Ronald), Elther Mathis (Julius), and Maybelleen Vereen; sister-in-law, Shepherdess Bertie Vereen; devoted friend and partner, Bobby Lawrence; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and friends.

The funeral service for Christine Zellers will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 1st, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 30th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
