Obituary for Clifford Ward Oakley
Clifford, age 68 of Jacksonville, Florida died on Saturday, March 27, 2021. Born in Charlotte,Tennessee he was the son of the late Oliver Washington and Ellen Bell Oakley and was preceded in death by his brothers, Oliver Washington Oakley, Jr. and William “Bill” Oakley and sisters, Sheran Ann Oakley and Theresa Kay Oakley Blincoe.
Clifford was retired from the United States Navy, where he served as a Senior Chief Aviation Electronics Technician. He was also retired from the United States Postal Service, where he served as a letter carrier for 20 years. Sonny was the true definition of a strong minded and responsible person in which he garnered everyone’s respect and taught his family how to be fathers and mothers to children without even saying anything. Sonny was a family man who made it his business to always be present in every way. He was the epitome of excellence!
Survivors include the mother of his children, Valerie D. Oakley; daughter, Tracey L. Oakley of Jacksonville, FL; son, Clifford A. Oakley (Deleira) of Jacksonville, FL; daughter, Adrienne C. Priester (Larry) of Jacksonville, FL; son, Ryan T. Oakley (Jessica) of Jacksonville, FL; brothers, C.J. Oakley (Toby) of Dover, DE, Tracy Oakley (Connie) of Memphis, TN; 10 grandchildren, Renita C. Moxey (Leonardo), Ciara R. Jackson, Charmhad J. Pates, Najah C. Laird, Michael D. Oakley, Ryan T. Oakley Jr., Jasiah R. Oakley, Loriel M. Priester, Regan S. Oakley, and Larry J. Priester; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces, and a host of cousins
The funeral service for Clifford Ward Oakley will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 6th, 2021 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, Florida 32209. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm , Monday, April 5th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel, 4315 N Main St, Jacksonville, FL 32206.
