Obituary for Damion Sean Murphy II

Damion Sean Murphy II (aka “Dami” and “Flacko”) was born at Shands Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida on December 1, 1997to Regina Taylor-Murphy and Damion Sean Murphy I. Dami transitioned into eternal life on February 1, 2021.
Dami attended Tempette Daycare, R V Daniels, Susie E Tolbert Gifted Magnet, Parkwood Heights Elementary, Arlington
Middle School and Terry Parker High School. Known to be mischievous (food fights) and a fashion trendsetter (those skinny jeans, sneakers and headgear), Dami enjoyed school and his friends. Dami became the Hospice At Home Caretaker for his Grammye, Mattye Taylor and completed his High School education online earning his High School Diploma from James Madison High School. Dami also received his A+ certification in Information Technology. Dami was highly intelligent and particularly adept at solving complex information technology issues.

Dami loved his friends and family dearly. He believed that all people should have the opportunity to reach their full potential. Dami’s favorite quote was by Mahatma Gandhi (“An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind.”). He thrived off of entertaining his friends and family with his quirkiness, comedic clap backs and his signature dance moves. He took the time to listen to his friends and helped them through hard times. He often brought friends home who needed a meal or had difficulty at home with their own parents. Dami liked to see others happy as he battled within to harness his own happiness. Dami suffered from depression but sought to help others find the peace that often escaped him.

Dami grew up an active Catholic in his faith community of St Pius V Catholic Church. Dami received his Baptism,
Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation at St Pius V. He served as an Altar Server, an officer in the St Pius V Youth Ministry, the Jr Knights of Peter Claver and as a member of the Wee Folk and Youth Choirs (However, “Watermelon” was mouthed more often than he sang). He loved St Pius V, made sure that his sons were introduced to the faith he grew up in and supported their activities (St Pius V Fashion Show, A Living Museum of Saints, Trunk or Treat, etc.).

Dami, inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat as well as his Grandpa Robert Taylor, was also an amazing artist who enjoyed sketching when he was younger. However, Dami always acknowledged his most amazing accomplishment as being a hands-on father to D3 and Dre and was extremely involved in their lives.

Dami was predeceased by his grandparents Mattye Taylor, Robert Taylor, Alainna Taylor and Brenda Johns. In addition to his mother, Regina and the proxy father whom he was very close to, GSM1 D’Angelo Streeter, Dami leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Damion Sean Murphy III and Damarion Andre Murphy; the mother of his sons, Kenya James; brothers, Randal Andrue Murphy and Dominique Murphy; great uncle, Gilbert Hodge; great aunts, Patricia Steward, Carolyn Thompson; his “Nana” – aunt, Robin Taylor; aunts Rachel Bolton, RuthAshley Taylor, Brenda Taylor, LaTonya Taylor; uncles Ron Taylor, Roman Taylor, Chauncey Love, Markale Graham, Harold Ellis, Reverend Gary Kitt; grandmothers Annette Hayes, Gloria Herring, grandfather Gerald Murphy; close cousins Aaliyah Taylor, Kevin Morgan, Kris German, Ronnie Taylor Jr, Chauncey Love Jr, Renata Steward, Ronsonet Steward; godparents Nathaniel Herring, Jr., Chelsia Jones, Cecelia Gibson, Janita Parrish, Carleen Hughes, Valecia Patrice Lewis, Nigelle Delgado-Kohn, Julie White, NaQuanda Dennard, Mary Granger, Tim Dorsey, Terrell Jones, Anthony Rogers, Joe Brown; best friends and godparents to his children, Zareya “GodieMa” White, DeLonte Williams, Dwayne “Nino” Esteni, Edward Norris “Tre” Duncombe III, Elijah Newman and a host of relatives and friends.
