Obituary for Denise Yvonne Harrell

Denise Yvonne Harrell was born on July 11, 1955 in Jacksonville, Florida to Dennis and Marietta Blue. She attended Duval County Public Schools and graduated from Paxon High School. Denise accepted Jesus Christ as a young adult and was added to the body of Christ on July 1, 1973 at Northside Church of Christ. Throughout the years, she participated in the education, drama, and music ministries.  She was a faithful and dedicated Christian who shared Christ with everyone she encountered. In recent years, she attended Riverview Church of Christ.

Denise married Joe Harrell on July 2, 1978 and from this union three children were born. She was a dedicated, loving, and encouraging mother that taught her children to keep Christ first in their lives. 

Denise will be remembered as a comical, caring, kind, and thoughtful person. She enjoyed reading her bible, art, drawing, and spending quality time with her family. 

On Thursday, January 28, 2021, our beloved Denise Yvonne Harrell transitioned from this life to everlasting life. The memories of love, warmth, and compassion will be truly missed by all.  She was preceded in death by: father, Dennis Blue; step-father, Otis Hobbs; and son, Joe Harrell. 

Denise leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Lavonne Harrell and Michelle Harrell; mother, Marietta Hobbs; brothers, Dennis Blue (Gwen) and Gregory Blue (Tonya); sister, Pamela Blue; former spouse, Joe Harrell; nephews, Ishmael Blue, Derrick Scott, Walter General, Jr, Carl General, and Austin General, Sr. (La’Tiffany); nieces, Janay Scott, Nakia General, and Jessica General; friends, Jannie Young, Elinor Holmes, and Tangela Roberts; and a host of family members and friends.

The funeral service for Denise Yvonne Harrell will be held 11:00 am Saturday, February 6th, 2021 at the Northside Church of Christ, 4736 Avenue B. Jacksonville, FL 32209. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm , Friday, February 5th, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Edgewood Cemetery.
