Obituary for Derrick Sebastin Stewart

Derrick Sebastin Stewart was born on August 26, 1973, in Jacksonville, Florida to Eloise Stewart and the late Alfred Dubois Stewart. Derrick attended Paxon High School in Jacksonville, Florida.  He also attended The Turner Vocational School in Albany, GA, where he obtained certifications in Brick Masonry. Derrick went on to further his passion in becoming a barber, as he attended and graduated and obtained his barber and cosmetology license from Rofflers, School of Hair Design.

Derrick was known for his loving, caring, and providing spirit. Amongst his family, he also displayed the same attributes to his friends. Derrick loved music; his favorite was reggae. In the year of 2000, he established and co-owned his own record label, known as 904 Records.  The label branded a local Rap Group by the name of All – Out, where they recorded a well-known song titled “Father Help Me”. This was also Derrick’s favorite song.  Derrick later accomplished his dream in owning his own convenient store, which he named after his mother, “Weezy’s One Stop Shop.”
 
Derrick was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Stewart. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson-Stewart and stepchildren, Brandon Johnson and Chardonnay Johnson; His loving mother, Eloise Stewart and grandmother, Dorothy Fuller; devoted brothers, Devin Stewart, Marcus Stewart (Sharhonda), Michael Stewart, Nathanial Williams (Sheronda), and Stephen Lanier (Karen): devoted sister, Erin Lanier; loving aunts: Doris Sutton (Thomas), Altamese Miller, and Marilyn Evans; devoted uncles: Joseph Henderson and William Stewart; a host of nieces and nephews that he loved so dearly; devoted God Brother, Kenneth Jones; special friends: Hope Jordan, Elwan Lang, Rodney Fulton, Pastor James Robinson, Jr., Ernest Banks, Raymond Garner, Kenny Hodges, and Joseph Miles ‘AKA’ The Hook Up along with the entire Norwood Family; A special thanks to the staff at the DaVita Dialysis Center.
