Obituary for Desmond Lamar Wright

Deacon Desmond Lamar Wright of Jacksonville, Florida was born on April 1st, 1981, in Decatur, Georgia to the late Emerson and Veronica Wright. Desmond was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend. He attended schools in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Ed White High School, Class of 1999, where he was a Navy ROTC Commander. Desmond briefly enlisted into the United States Air Force.

Desmond was always a family man and prioritized his family above everything else in his life. He was a faithful member of Hephzibah Evangelistic Pentecostal Church for well over 15 years and served as head deacon, treasurer, and usher. Desmond was a loving servant of God and always ready to help the people within his community. He was a bright spark in this world and will be deeply missed by many.

Desmond enjoyed Living life on Purpose. He had a love for cars particularly the Purple Jaguar XK8. He was also an avid Florida State Seminole fan. He worked well with his hands and built things with great craftsmanship. Everyone who knew Desmond knew that he was loving, strong-willed, extremely kind, loyal, dependable, supportive, and a protective leader. He loved his family and friends very much.

Desmond departed this life and transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 12, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Teness; beloved children, son, Jeremiah Wright, daughter, Zion Wright; bonus children, sons, Gregory and Darius, daughters, Kieara and Kaylah; grandson, Gregory III and granddaughter, Laylani; sister, Celestria Brown (Kyle Brown); his brothers in friendship Etta Boyz; brothers and sisters in Christ and a host of other loved ones.

He will forever be in our hearts and missed very much every day. His infectious smile and laugh will live on forever.

The funeral service for Desmond Lamar Wright will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26th, 2022 at the Hephzibah EPC, 3706 Turton Ave, Jacksonville, Florida 32208. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 25th, 2022 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden, 4315 North Main Street, Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
