Obituary for Devaughn Jarvis Gresham

Devaughn Jarvis Gresham, affectionately known as "DJ", was blessed to Jeffrey and Dorthea Gresham on October 19, 1996. On September 8, 2020, God saw fit to transition our handsome son to be with his heavenly angels.

In his short span of time spent here with us, “Deej” really enjoyed life and we believe he lived everyday as if it was his last.  He was a respectful young man who was adored and loved by so many.

DJ grew up at Northside Church of Christ and was baptized in Christ on May 8, 2005 serving God. DJ was an extraordinary kid, from drawing anime characters from the comics he enjoyed with his Dad to dabbling in sports until he discovered what would become his most loved past time, music. He spent his free time with his cousins and friends, creating beats and songs. He looked forward to the day he would be able to share his craft for the world to enjoy.

After graduating from Robert E Lee Senior High in the Spring of 2015, DJ was off to Orlando, FL becoming a college freshman. He quickly realized that while he was gaining friends and popularity there, college was not for him.  Needless to say, he returned home where he created most of his memorable moments.

In recent months, DJ was preparing for a very special role and most important task of them all, the birth of his sweet baby girl, Eridani Devaughn. He has left her in great hands and we're so excited to be able to care for this assignment. Emari, Pop Pop, Nana, and Uncle Jordan got this.

DJ is survived by his loving parents, Jeffrey and Dorthea Gresham; his best friend and younger brother, Jordan Gresham; his grandparents, Larry (Cheryl) and King (Deborah); his loving grandmas, Betty and Jeannette (Willie); Goddaddy, Jessie Atwater; immediate aunts and uncles, Theresa "Tee Tee" (JD), Bruce, Adrian (Kashia), Lakesha, Ivan, Tommy "Uncle Tee", Larry, Breanna "Bre", Ma’resa, Lauren, Eboni, Brenda (Leonard), Zondra, Rodney, Jason, and Christie; and a host of great aunts and uncles. DJ also leaves to mourn a host of loving cousins and numerous dear friends.

Although DJ's time here with us has ended, his love and memories will forever live on through us all.
