Obituary for Donnell Wescott Stukes

“I'm home now sitting on the front porch in Heaven.”

Mr. Donnell Wescott Stukes “What they do!” was his greeting to all who knew him. A debonair he was! He was born on December 16th, 1977 in Brooklyn, New York to Mr. Ronald Lewis Stukes and Ms. Deborah Lois Wescott. From a early age, Donnell believed in doing things his way. That famous song we all hear, ‘I Did It My Way’, now that was Donnell W. Stukes!

At a early age, Donnell accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a son, father, and brother who loved his family. He attended Emanuel A.M.E Church in Charleston, South Carolina where his late grandmother, Mrs. Rose Wescott, was a member. He served on the Usher Board and attended Burke High School before moving to Jacksonville, Florida to live with his late great-grandmother, Mrs. Laura Stukes, member of St. Stephens A.M.E. Church where she served on the Steward Board. Mrs. Iness Scarborough, her sister, sang in the choir. Donnell graduated from both Mandarin High School and Frank H. Peterson Academics schools with a certificate in Brick Masonry, but his love was in retail and he was good at it! He had a heart of gold. If you asked, he would have given you his shirt off of his back and the shoes off of his feet.

Donnell’s health began to fail in May 2018. He always put others first and he always had a smile on  his face. On December 26th, 2019, his health failed him. “I'm sitting on the front porch now, watching from Heaven.”

Donnell was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Mrs. Laura Stukes; great-grandfather, Mr. Blaney L. Stukes; grandmother, Mrs. Rose Wescott; grandfather, Mr. Leon Townsend; uncle, Mr. Layton Allford aka “Butt”; and great grand-aunt, Mrs. Iness Scarborough.

Donnell leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Mr. Ronald L. Stukes (Betty) and Mrs. Deborah Lois Wescott; fiancée, Ms. Katina Harris aka “Cokko”; daughter, Ms. Dontriana Stukes; son, Kevon Stukes; granddaughter, Ms. Javonte Veronica Stukes; brothers, Mr. Ronald L. Stukes, II (Avis), and Mr. Eric Stukes (Rhonda); grandmother, Mrs. Barbara Townsend; aunts, Mrs. Rhonda Glenn (Kenneth), Mrs. Carol Watson (Sidney), Mrs. Diane Troutman (Albert), and Mrs. Tanya Thompson (Joaquin); uncle, Mr. Kevin Allford (Verna); stepmother, Mrs. Sharon Meeks DeBouse; stepbrother, Mr. Christopher D. Hanna; stepdaughter, Ms. Mechela Boatwright; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
