Obituary for Donzell Marier "Grabs" Perry (Russell)

Mrs. Donzell Marier Perry, a native of Fernandina Beach, Florida, transitioned to her Heavenly Home on Tuesday, May 17th at St. Vincent Hospital Riverside. She was born on April 17, 1965 and was nicknamed “Grabs”. She was married to Manuel Perry for 36 years and was blessed with two sons, Dominique and Branden.

Donzell served in the military for 8 years and was deployed to Somalia during the Gulf War. She truly loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Greater Fernandina Beach Church of God, serving in multiple capacities: Sunday School Teacher, Usher Board, Hospitality and Trustee Board. For many years, she worked for the Nassau County School Board as a Food Service Worker.

Donzell loved family gatherings, doing crossword puzzles, and listening to jazz and gospel music while meditating. She also loved spending time with her twin and was a true fan of the Miami Hurricanes.

Donzell was preceded in death by her mother, Elizabeth “Delia” Russell; sister, Alona Russell Foreman; and father-in-law, Emanuel Perry, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memories: husband, Manuel Perry; sons, Dominique and Branden Perry; stepson, Manuel Perry; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Perry; twin sister, Vanzell Parker, brothers, sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
