Dorothy Louise was born on October 27, 1947 to Robert Samuel Jones and Enola McMillan Jones in Miami, Florida. She, her mother, and sister moved to Jacksonville.
Dorothy is a product of local schools: Darnell Cookman Elementary, Isaiah Blocker Junior High, and a graduate if New Stanton Senior High School's distinguished class of 1965. She attended Miami-Dade Junior College.
Dorothy was actively involved in the family church, Saint Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church. She attended Sunday School, sang in the Junior Choir, and was a Junior Usher. Dot, also, participated in Easter Programs and in Christmas Plays.
She worked in health care for several years, and then began a new career working for the U.S. Forestry Services in Palatka, FL. She retired in 2014 and moved back home. She was fulfilled with joy being with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends.
She resumed affiliation with the family church, St. Paul A.M.E. under the dynamic leadership of the Rev. Dr. Marvin C. Zanders, II. She joined the A. Cottrell Adult Sunday School Class, The Young at Heart Ministry, and Usher Board #2.
Dorothy is survived by: three daughters, Dale Patrice (John) Bates, Almeta Selene Sylvain, Debrel Arsonia Payne; grandchildren, Chante' Nixon, Demetruis Stamper, Aarington Pugh, Denesha Loggins, Brianna Waters; four great grandchildren, Terrell Nixon, Ca'Merieh Nixon, Au'Miyah Saviory; Aubree' Lauderdale and cherished family-devoted sister Robbie Sue, Lethere, and Nancy. Loving Godsons; Antwan Gordon and Stastan Johnson. She was blessed with lots of memories, loving family, cousins and friends.
