Obituary for Elease H Lawrence

Elease H. Lawrence
I would like to introduce to you one of the most awesome women in the world, Elease H. Lawrence, my mother. Born February 5, 1929, Elease was the oldest daughter of five children, born to Reverend George W. Herring and Leslie Herring of Hilliard, Florida. She attended and graduated from Peck Elementary & Jr. High School. She loved school, and was an excited and dedicated student. Her favorite subject was English and she loved singing.

My mom, Elease Lawrence, often attended Church of God of Fernandina Beach, Florida with my great-grandmother. At the age of twelve, she received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She had a thirst for God and asked him in prayer to use her for His honor and glory. She was a doer of God’s Word, which was exemplified in the life that she lived. She grew from a babe in Christ to a powerful and anointed woman of God. While attending church, my mom met and married my father. To this union a darling little girl, Anna Baker, was born. My mother loved being a mother. She was a good mother, and she prayed and promised God that she would raise me in the church and teach me how to live for Christ. She honored her word to God and He blessed me and my family.

Those that knew my mother saw her as an active, vocal person in church. But, she was not always like that as a young Pastor’s wife. As she grew in the Lord, she became a stronger and willing vessel for God. Her faith grew as she grew spiritually. She always put God and family first. After my father, God brought her love again and she married Bishop Eddie Lawrence. Mom was a true servant of God, and a willing servant to her fellow man. As a born again Christian, she wanted others to know and love God as she did. She mentored many younger and older women in the church, especially minister’s wives. She would tell you the truth whether you liked it or not, but, she did so in a gentle way. As a minister’s wife, my mom started a Prayer Band with the senior women in the communities of O’Neal and Callahan, Florida.

They started out with three members and began to grow and grow. It was nothing for my mother and father to have prayer meetings in our home on any given day or night. My mom cared for the communities she lived in. She started a Monday night Talent Program. She said that God spoke to her on how to help this church that was in need of financial assistance. The program continued for years to assist other churches of all denominations. All of the money raised remained at that church. My mom was an awesome woman, but a very strict mother, who taught me how to become a Christian young lady, a good wife to my husband, and to be a good mother. She promised me if I lived for God and was obedient to His Word, I would want for nothing. My mom was always thankful, prayerful, committed, giving, humble, and devoted, especially to the things of God. She really loved her Pastor, Dr. Walter G. Wells and the Mt. Erie Baptist Church, San Diego Family. She will greatly be missed forever.

Elease H. Lawrence transitioned from a peacefully sleep into the arms of her Heavenly Father on April 20, 2021 at 4:45am. Preceding her in death are: My father, Rev. Dennis T. Baker; Her mother and father; two brothers and one sister.

Loving Nieces, and Nephews. A host of Spiritual daughters and Sons. And a host of step-great grandchildren. The most Loving Godson, Bishop Thomas Coleman (Donnice), of O’Neal, Florida.

MOM, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN MY HEART, I KNOW YOU ARE IN A BETTER PLACE
AND I WILL SEE YOU AGAIN ONE DAY.
