Obituary for Elsie Lee Chisholm

Elsie Lee Chisholm was born on May 4, 1935 as the seventh child to Mary Ella Smith and Nathanial Chisholm in Jacksonville, Florida. She received her education and graduated from Isaiah Bloka High School. Elsie Lee turned to Christ at an early age and was a member of Mt. Ararat Missionary Baptist Church. She always had the deepest love for family and had a heart of gold. She was a devoted sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.

Elsie Lee was a person that everyone would and could turn to weather it was a place to stay or food to eat. Elsie Lee is known to many as a person who could really throw down in the kitchen. She always said to be a great cook, it had to come from within. Amen! But in her words, “TRUE”!! Elsie Lee had a spirit that nothing or no one could touch or bring her down, that filled many if ever paths were crossed. She was a firm and true believer of putting God first no matter what. She was and now truly a soldier for the Lord. With the most humorous personality that kept smiles and tears on your faces as well as being very BOLDLY OUT SPOKEN. Never held punches she lived her life to the fullest, loving music, singing, reunions and celebrating with family and friends.

On January 6, 2018, God in his Infinite wisdom called home His angel, Elsie Lee Chisholm. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Nathaniel Jr., Henry, James (Mozell) and Albert; two sisters, MaePansy and Bernice; sons, Ervin and Mr. Willie and first grandchild, Tyriesha.

Elsie Lee leaves behind to cherish her memories: a daughter, Mary Louise Greene; sister, Mary Louise (Arbie); six grandchildren, Chris, Amp, Devontae, Jaylan, Marious and Arionna; great-grandchild, Jayla; as well as her adopted family, Emanuel and Shontavia Finley; a great number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
