Obituary for Erika Renee Favors (Winn)
Erika Renee’ Winn-Favors was born on February 11, 1969 in Jacksonville, Florida to her parents, Shirley Winn and Void Winn, Jr. She confessed Christ and attended Joint-Heirs Christian Center. Erika was educated in the local schools of Duval County and graduated from William M. Raines High School and Edward Waters College.
Erika later met and married Ernest James Favors, Jr in Jacksonville, Florida.
Erika was the epitome of perfection as a wife and mother who showed an unwavering devotion to her husband and three children. Erika and Ernest Favors were married for six years and shared a harmonious love for one another. Erika, always by his side, especially enjoyed cooking alongside him. Her laughter and love will forever echo in his heart. As a mother, Erika prioritized her love for God and education within her home. She ensured her children possessed a desire to love God and encouraged them in all their endeavors. Daryl Hill, Erika’s oldest son, whom she was so proud of, carries her diligence and work ethic. Erika’s heart overflowed with joy as she witnessed her middle child, Jalen Hill, graduate from Talladega College. Erika had the opportunity to see her daughter, Endia Hill, embark on her educational journey at Florida A&M University this past August.
As her children remember moments of laughter and appreciation, phrases such as “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” warm their hearts. Her children will continue her legacy of love, humility, and grace. Erika poured this same love and devotion into every student who entered her classroom. As an educator, her students loved her dearly, and her spirit will forever grace the hearts and minds of those she taught within Duval County Public Schools. Dedicated to servicing those in her community, Erika played a pivotal role as a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. Erika found great joy in spending time with her family. Her presence was a light in every room, and she will be missed dearly.
Erika departed this life on Friday, September 9, 2022. She leaves to mourn her husband, Ernest Favors, Jr.; two sons: Daryl Hill, II and Jalen Hill; daughter, Endia Hill; mother, Shirley Winn; siblings: Phyllis Winn, Kecia Winn-Ousley (Kurt Ousley), Sean Winn, and Rodney Winn; nephews: Christian Scott, Jahmari Winn, and Marcus Hill Jr.; and a host of other relatives and friends.
