Obituary for Erma Jane Mathis

Erma Jane Mathis was born in Americus, Georgia on June 17, 1928 to John Henry Ransome and Izora High. She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of Palmer Grove Baptist Church and later joined St. Johns Baptist Church. Erma received her education in the Duval County Public Schools. She later met and married Ulysees Mathis.

Erma departed this life on Saturday, October 19, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 sisters and 2 brothers.

Erma leaves to cherish her life’s memories: a sister, Bernice Goldson; brother, Silas Ransome of Chicago, Illinois; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ransome; devoted cousin, Lucille McCloud; devoted nephew, Esko Bolden, Jr.; godson, Alex Harley; 6 nieces, 12 nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.


The funeral service for Erma Jane Mathis will be held 11:00 am Monday, October 28th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel. The visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 am, Monday, October 28th, 2019 at the Funerals By T. S. Warden - Samuel C. Rogers, Jr. Memorial Chapel. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
