Obituary for Floree "Sister Bobbie" Johnson-McPherson (Summerset)

Floree Summerset Johnson-McPherson, also known as “Bobbie” or “Sister”, departed this life peaceably on Saturday, January 18th, 2020 at her home in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on October 9th, 1934 in Blakley, Georgia to her late parents Viola (Wimbly) and Wheeler Summerset.

She was very active and a strong pillar in the community. She participated with organizations such as SHADCO, Sulzbacher, Center, the Clara White Mission, and the local NAACP to name a few. After working numerous years, she retired from the Sears Co. She also was known as a masterful seamstress up until she passed. Her sweet spirit touched all who came to meet and know her. She always placed the need of others above her own and took care to make sure that they were appreciated while humbly being the servant. She was a beloved member of the Central Baptist Institutional Church of Jacksonville, FL, pastored by Reverend Dr. Karl L. Hodges, Sr., where she lovingly served on the Deaconess Board and in any other area where she saw a need. She will be sorely missed by all the lives she came in contact with. God bless her soul.

Preceding her in death was her husband, James “Snow” Johnson; husband, John N. McPherson; son, Jimmy (Dorothy) Lee Chester; daughter, Judy Walker; brothers, James and Luke Summerset; and granddaughter, Denise Nicole Chester-Ebanks.

She leaves to cherish and honor her memory: daughter, Sandra A. Littleton; sisters, Carrie Pinkney and Mattie Summerset; brother, Freddie Summerset, Sr.; grandsons, Anthony (Elora), Frederick (Tierra), and Charles Story; granddaughter, Jameica Chester; great-grandchildren, Anthony Story Jr, Tomika and Jasmine Story, Samuel III, Lilia, Morgan, Jordan, Samantha, Madison Harris, and Sa’niya Story; great great-grandson, Jordan Story; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Floree Johnson-McPherson will be held 11AM, Saturday, January 25th, 2020 at the Central Baptist Institutional Church 524 West 3rd Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery. Please sign the family guest book @ www.tswarden.com. Arrangements in care of Tyrone S.
