Obituary for Freddie Lee Cooper

Freddie Lee Cooper was born on September 26, 1958, in Savannah, Georgia to proud parents, Robert and Edith Cooper. He was educated in the Chatham County Public School System and graduated from Herschel V. Jenkins High School and Savannah Vocational Technical School. In 1976, he met Laverne Henderson and in 1984 they were united in holy matrimony and from this union he was blessed with one son, Frederick Lee Cooper. Freddie relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in 1984.

Freddie loved the Lord and accepted Christ at an early age. He was a practicing Catholic attending St. Mary’s Catholic Church and St. Mary’s Catholic School, where he received his early teachings of Jesus Christ. After moving to Jacksonville, Florida, he became a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, where he continued to practice his faith.

Freddie’s work career spanned well over forty years working in various management positions. His early years began with sales and management with Ben Sheftall Company, Savannah, GA, where he began his career in ethnic hair products. For many years he managed several McDuff Stores until they closed. Freddie began his insurance career with American General in the 90s where he received numerous awards for several notable achievements. He was currently employed with Kemper Insurance.

Freddie loved sports. He played sports, coached sports, and enjoyed watching the game with his son. He and son, Frederick could be seen at the game rooting for their favorite team “Jacksonville Jaguars”. In 2020, they received a noteworthy memento from Jaguars owner, Shad Kahn for their steadfast commitment to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Freddie was a devoted father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Cooper. Freddie leaves to cherish his memories: son, Frederick Cooper; former wife, Laverne Cooper; mother, Edith Cooper; siblings, Johnnie Mae Scott (Calvin), Arelious, Brenda, Orion (June); nephews, Arelious Cooper, Jr., Lamont Johnson, DeMario Scott, Orion Cooper, Jr.; nieces, Sierra Scott, Kimbriana Powell (Christopher), Junesia Cooper; He also leave cherished memories with a host of loving family members and friends.
