Obituary for Gabriel John Devoe

Gabriel John Devoe, God’s miracle, was born on July 24, 1999 in Jacksonville, Florida to John Jay Devoe Jr. and Rose Marie Devoe. Through much prayer and faith, the Lord brought the Devoe family their heartstring. Gabriel’s Miracle is a “Work wrought by a Divine Power (God), for a Divine Purpose (His Glory) by means beyond the reach of man.” Gabriel’s parents and sisters adored him as he them. He valued his family and loved them dearly. Gabriel took great pride in his appearance, and everyone close to him can attest to that. Gabriel had a fun personality and a big bright smile to match. When he walked into a room, he commanded attention.

Gabriel confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Grace Baptist Church of East Springfield where his father is the pastor. Gabriel was active in Sunday School and served in the youth choir, drama ministry, and media ministry. He made his parents proud as he led the song, “I’m Walking in Authority” and delivered his Christmas and Easter speeches with fluency and authority.

He received his education in the Duval County School system, graduating from Paxon School for Advanced Studies in 2017. After graduating from high school, he furthered his education at Valdosta State University, majoring in Healthcare Management and Business Administration. He was completing an internship in healthcare administration during his final semester of college.

Gabriel transitioned from this life on Thursday, November 3, 2022.
