Obituary for George Thomas Kirby

George Thomas Kirby was born to Odell and Ruby Mae Kirby on March 21, 1950 in Jesup, Georgia.  He confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized thanks to a loving uncle, Deacon Leroy Moody, while living in Brunswick, Georgia.

His early education began in Brunswick, Georgia, moving to Jacksonville, Florida in 1968. He attended Eugene Butler and William M. Raines High School. He later received a degree in Auto Mechanics from Florida Community College Jacksonville and a certificate in Culinary Arts at Clara White Mission.

George meet and married Joann and from this union, one son and three daughters were born, Joseph, Shawkina, Lashaundra, Tymaca of Jacksonville. He moved to Chicago for a few years and had two more children, Christopher and Tanika.

George departed this life on February 21, 2022. He was preceded in death by his father, Odell Kirby; daughter, Tanika Kirby; brothers, David Lorenzo Kirby and William Jerome Kirby.

George leaves to cherish fond memories: mother, Ruby Mae Moody Kirby; sister, Queen Esther Rogers (James); sons, Christopher George Kirby and Joseph Shabaka Kirby; daughters, Shawkina Kirby Dukes (Tony), Tinasha Wilson, Lashaundra Kirby and Tymaca Kirby; special friend, Amail; nephews, Auja Rogers and Ausha Rogers; great niece, Ellexia Taylor Norris; eleven grandchildren, many loving cousins, other relatives and friends.
