Obituary for Geraldine Mary-Francis Legree (Thomas)
Geraldine Mary-Francis Thomas Legree was born to the union of Eugene Thomas Sr. and Rosa Hopkins Thomas on April 17,1946. Geraldine was the youngest of four children. She was formally educated in the Nassau County Public School System in Fernandina Beach, Florida. After graduating from Peck High School, Class of 1965 Geraldine enlisted in the United States Air Force stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas.
After leaving the Air Force, Geraldine returned to Florida and worked as a cook at various restaurants in Fernandina Beach. She moved to Jacksonville in the late 70’s and obtained a position with St Vincent's Medical Center, where she retired in 2011 after 27 years of dedicated service.
Geraldine became absent from the body and present with the Lord on Monday, May 10, 2021 at St Vincent's Ascension Riverside (Jacksonville, Florida). She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Thomas Sr.; mother, Rosa Hopkins Thomas; husband, Jerold Legree; sister, Roslyn Morell; brother, Eugene Thomas Jr.; and grandson, Bruce Thomas Jr.
Geraldine leaves to mourn her passing: son, Bruce Thomas (Elizabeth Lewis); sister, Lois Swangin (Oscar); grandchildren, Dominique Thomas, Kiarra Thomas, and additional loving grandchildren; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo Johnson Jr. and Denim Thomas; niece, Kim Lee; nephew, Oscar Swangin Jr. (Neisha); grand nieces, Kennedie Swangin and Nevaeh Swangin; grand nephews, Travis Hutchinson and Marcellus Swangin; and Barbara King, the mother of her two eldest grandchildren; and a host of sorrowing family members and friends.
The graveside service for Geraldine Mary-Francis LeGree will be held 11:00 am Saturday, May 22nd, 2021 at the Franklin Town Cemetery 1300 Plantation Point Drive Fernandina Beach, Florida 32034. The visitation will be 5 - 7:00 pm , Friday, May 21st, 2021 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206.
