Obituary for Glenard Antonio Chapman

Mr. Glenard Antonio Chapman, a lifelong resident of the Jacksonville community, passed away suddenly on March 27, 2019 doing what he loved most, the game of football. He was an inspiration to many that knew him. Mr. Chapman better known as “Glen” and “Coach Chap” is the son of Keith and Gloria Chapman-Scott. He was born on March 5, 1977. Mr. Glen Chapman obeyed the gospel at the young age of 11 years old. He was Baptized, on Sunday, March 27, 1988. He was a member of Northside Church of Christ for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Jean Ribault Senior High School, Class of 1995, where he was a member of the mighty “Trojans “football team, he sung in the school chorus, and was Mr. Trojan during his Senior year for home coming. He received a dual Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Recreation from Bethune Cookman College where he was an Offensive Lineman on the “Wild Cat” football team. Mr. Chapman was also Vice-President of the Student Government Association during his studies at Bethune Cookman College, graduating Class of 2002. He was a member of Omega Psi Phi, Fraternity Inc.

Mr. Chapman was the proud, loving and only son of Keith and Gloria Chapman-Scott, whom his mother always called him the “World’s Greatest Son” and her “Number One Favorite Son,” they loved him dearly, although their hearts are heavy and missing him, we all know God loved him and had a better plan for his eternal life.

Mr. Chapman was a great father to his only son, Isaiah Antonio Chapman and to a loving niece whom he valued as a daughter, Aniya Dixon. They were the love of his life, and he would always say, “I love them more than life.” Glen was a big brother to his two loving and caring sisters, Ms. Stacey Ferebee and Mrs. Kendra Wright whom he loved. He also loved his other nieces, Robyn and Autuum; nephews, Robert Jr. and Logan; aunts, uncles and several cousins. He had respect, love and friendship for all his family members and friends.

Mr. Chapman was a Math and Science Teacher at Cedar Creek Christian Academy where he loved his students and co-workers dearly. He was well known throughout the Jacksonville Community for being a leader and having the knowledge for the game of football. He was an Offensive Line Coach for The Jax X Men Amateur Adult Minor League Football Team, Jax FL, Edward Waters College, Pedro Menendez High School, Creekside High School and The Potter’s House Christian Academy where he was loved by his players, athletic staff and fellow coaches. He was very enthusiastic and enjoyed being a coach, a mentor and at times a father figure to his players and students throughout the years of his coaching and teaching career.

NY; aunts, Ms. Shirley A. Hambrick, Atl., GA, Ms. Beverly L. Cray, Miss., Mrs. Crissey J. Wilson (Ron), Roch. NY, Ms. Janice M. Cray, Atl., GA, Ms. Edith Cray, Roch. NY, Mrs. Betty Stephens, Jax. FL, and Ms. Helen Reyes, Seattle, WA; uncles, Mr. Melvin C. Chapman, Jr., Jax, FL, Mr. Willie Cray (Debra), Roch. NY, Mr. Ronald Cray, NE, Mr. Enoch Cray, Jr. (Cynthia), Roch. NY, Mr. Horace Scott Jr. (Theodora), Jax, FL, Mr. Archie V. Scott, Jax. FL and Mr. Anthony J. Scott (Janice), Jax. FL; a very loving and special niece, Aniya Dixon, Orange City, FL; two very special friends/brothers and their wives, Mr. Tim Patterson (Alicia), Orange Park, FL and Mr. Ron Williams (Arnitria), Jax, FL; two longtime friends, Mrs. Dionne Williams, Atl. GA and Mr. Solomon Jennings, Jax, FL; other sorrowing relatives and friends. Mr. “Glen” Chapman will truly be missed by his loving family and friends.

The funeral service for Glenard Antonio Chapman will be held 11:00 am Friday, April 12th, 2019 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. Jacksonville, FL 32209. The visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 11th, 2019 at the Northside Church of Christ 4736 Avenue B. JACKSONVILLE, FL 32209. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
