Obituary for Gloria Jean Dear

Gloria Jean Dear was born December 19, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Earnest Dear, Sr. and Myra B. Dear. Gloria confessed Christ and was baptized at an early age after uniting with Greater Sweet Home Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois (Rev. Andrew Kelly) where she served in the renowned Greater Sweet Home Mass Choir, under the vocal tutelage of Mary Westbrook and the late Cutis Kelly. During her tenure in Chicago, Illinois Gloria went on to attend Dusable Leadership Academy in Chicago and later attended and graduated from Three Rivers High School, where she met and united in matrimony to BJ Vaughn in Three Rivers, MI and to this union one son, SirEarnest Dear was born.

Gloria later went on to attend Malcom X College in Chicago, Illinois and as the course of her life went on she worked until retirement and raised her family. With Jesus being the head of her life, Gloria was led to move her family and relocate to Atlanta, Georgia, where she joined the ministry of The Awakening Power of God's Work Ministries, under the leadership of Apostle A.D. Meeks. She later moved to Jacksonville, Florida and continued with the ministry. During her service with The Awakening Power of God’s Word Ministries, she was ordained as a licensed Minister of the cloth; she served in the choir and as praise and worship leader until her untimely demise.

Gloria departed this life on June 15, 2019. She was preceded in death by her father, Earnest Dear Sr.; mother, Myra B. Dear; brothers, Nathaniel Smith and Earnest Dear, Jr.; sisters, Pastor Bessie Weddington and Pastor Bertha Colbert; son, Lamar Dear.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Misako Dear-Bloomfield (Wayne) of Gainesville, FL and Glovita Dear of Jacksonville, FL; son, SirEarnest Dear of Jacksonville, FL; sisters, Co-Pastor L. B. Meeks (Apostle A.D.) of Jacksonville, FL, Dorthy Dear of Atlanta, GA, Dora Campbell of North Las Vegas, NV, Maria Dear-Rumph (Lamarila) of Atlanta, GA, and Dianna Jennings (Pastor Rickey) of Allegan, MI; brother, Jesse Dear (Emma); nine grandchildren, Dewayne Bloomfield, Briana Bloomfield, Patrick Brown, Daquan Bloomfield, India Gibson, Iyanna Brown, Kylen Williams, Zanayla Dear and Justin Lavant; four great-grandchildren; three life long friends, Diann Holmes-Rufus (William), Shirley Hill-Hall (Larry), Sandra Hooper; three extended children, She’lia Cooks-Cody (Ervin), Gregory Pittman and Dominic Sullivan; and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Gloria Jean Dear will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 22nd, 2019 at the The Church 3:20; 8601 Youngerman Court Jacksonville, Florida 32244. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries.
