Obituary for Grace Louise Earl

Mrs. Grace Louise Barber Earl was born on April 9, 1934 to Arthur and Grace Barber. Mama was a Loving, Caring Homemaker and Grand-Children Sitter. Mama was an only child. She took care of her parents, husband, aunts, uncles and a few of her neighbors when their health was failing.

Mama was married to William A. Earl and together they raised 3 children, Pamela, Russell and Meta. Mama was a life-long member of St. Joseph U.M. Church on the Eastside, there she sang in the choir and served as a Stewardess as well as participated where she was needed.

Mama was also a neighborhood seamstress; sewing and making clothes was one of her hobbies other than gardening and yard work. Mama also had a love for gold fish and parakeets and she loved the colors, red and white.

Mama was a member of D.W. Perkins Order of Eastern Stars, she was owner of Cool Spot Barber Shop and she also was a member of Cherokee Pilots Social Club.

Mama died peacefully at the age of 85 in St. Vincent Hospice Care. She was predeceased by loving parents, Arthur and Grace Barber; a loving and caring husband of 35 years, William A. Earl.

Mama leaves to mourn and cherish her memory 3 loving and caring children, Pamela Earl Jones, Russell A. Earl, Sr. (Gwendolyn) and Meta L. Earl; 6 grandchildren, Russell A. Earl, Jr.(Crown Point, Indiana) Rhonda A. Earl, Patrina Grace Jones, Tanzanea M. Vereen, William L. R. Earl and Arthur A. Vereen; 10 great-grandchildren, Tyrus, Darralyn and Chassity Peterson, Dedrick Leonard, Benjamin Carter, Jaden Jones, Quinton Jones, Jr., Russell and Quincy Earl(Twins) (Crown Point, Indiana) and Tiara Sparks; 1 nephew, Rev. Reginald Earl (Joan) (Augusta, GA); 1 goddaughter whom she raised, Thomasina Hooks Caldwell; 2 cousins, Ethel Burks and Anna Jean Blue, (Orlando, FL); Mama will also be missed by life-long friends, Mrs. Ruth Tisby, Dorothy and Leon Demps and LeRoy and Hazel Perry.

The funeral service for Grace Louise Earl will be held 10AM, Saturday, May 11th, 2019 at the St. Stephens A. M. E. Church 913 West 5th Street. The visitation will be 5 - 7PM, Friday, at the mortuary.
