Gregory Maurice Reid. Sr. was born on May 31, 1950, in Bronx, New York, to the late Robert Reid Sr. and Bernice Alberty Durham. In Jacksonville, Greg received his education in the Duval Public School System. Here in middle school, he met the love of his life, Maxine McClendon. Greg would later graduate in 1968 from Matthew W. Gilbert High School.
After uniting with Maxine in holy matrimony, Greg enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country faithfully for four years and received an Honorable Discharge. He spent his career working for The United States Postal Service and The International Longshoreman Association, retiring from both after 31 and 34 years of service, respectively.
An avid sports fan, Greg was a dedicated supporter of his favorite team, the Miami Dolphins. He enjoyed filling a room with musical sounds of his favorite R&B and soul classics from the 1960s and 1970s. Greg also loved a good casino, but for all his passions, none meant more than the love he had for spending time with his family.
Greg was a son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend during his lifetime. He departed this life on Thursday, March 3, 2022. He was 71 years old.
