Gussie Lee Belton was born on April 8, 1925 in Crawford County, Georgia to Sidney and Olga Hart. She attended the Public Schools in Georgia. Gussie was always full of laughter, it was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a faithful member of New Mount Olive Church of Jacksonville until she could no longer attend.

Gussie enjoyed her word search puzzle book, calls and visits from her family and friends. To know Gussie was to love Gussie. “Suga” was the word! “Hey Suga”, Thank you Suga”, Love you Suga” and “Bye Suga”!

Gussie worked in Food Service for the Duval Public School Systems for over 32 years until retirement. Gussie was presented a Certificate of Recognition for 100% Attendance for Food Service during the school years 1988-1989. She enjoyed preparing school meals from scratch. From the main course to desserts, it was all good! The school meals are a lot different today.

Gussie passed away Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 92. She was preceded her in eternal rest include her parents, Sidney and Olga Hart; devoted husband, Robert Belton, Sr,; sons, Roy Clark and Sylvester Belton; sisters, Mattie Mae Collins and Ethel Hart; and a brother, Oscar Hart.

Gussie is survived by her sons, Robert Belton Jr (Melanie) of Palatka, FL, Rodaton Belton of Jacksonville, FL and Aldaton Youmans of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Davian Belton, Frank Maddox, Kemorah Belton and Rychus Belton; devoted nephew, Ernest Belton (Debbie) of Jacksonville, FL; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Young (Cornell), of Sicklerville, NJ and Grace Belton of Philadelphia, PA; brother-in-law, Clarence Belton (Ruby), of California, City; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many caring friends.

The funeral service for Gussie Lee Belton will be held 11:00AM Saturday, July 22nd, 2017 at the New Mt. Olive Church of Jacksonville 1420 Brady Street.The visitation will be 5 - 7PM , Friday, at the mortuary. Interment in Jacksonville National Cemetery.
