Obituary for Harold Price

Harold C. Price was born on February 11, 1930 to Leo and Francis Price in Jacksonville, Florida. In this family there were (11) siblings. The family was affiliated with Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church which is where Harold started most of his education. He was exposed to the Duval County Education System from kindergarten through high school. After graduating high school, Harold entered Edward Waters College for a short time. In 1951, he moved to New York and attended the City College of New York.This too was cut short by Harold being inducted into the United States Army Services. While in the Army, Harold served in the Medical Collective Company, in Germany. He later became a licensed masseur from the Board of Education of New York. Harold received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Behavioral Health with credits toward a Master’s Degree in Counseling. He worked for 31 years in the research of all phases in psychotherapy, and was a Clinical Member of the NCAA.

Harold also served as a key leader of several community advocate programs including Vice-President of CSEA Region II Local 910 Retirees, Co-chair to Retiree Political Action of Local 910, Delegate to the Congress of Senior Citizens, JPAC, and Coalition of Black Trade Unionists. Harold became somewhat of a mascot of Class 15 for many years because his sister was a member.

In 1985, Harold joined the St. Luke A.M.E. Church, where Sis. Margaret Small was class leader. Before Sister Small was Class Leader, the first Class Leader was Rev. William Freeman and Mrs. Pearl George. Brother Harold became Class Leader after Margaret Small moved away. He also served on two choirs and was President of the Bereavement Ministry.

Harold is survived by his sisters, Josephine Collins and Mary Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
