Obituary for Hellen Goss

Mrs. Hellen Thomas Goss was born on November 13, 1929 to the late Sam and Ivola Goines Thomas in Jacksonville, Florida. She was the eighth of nine children. A near lifelong resident of East Jacksonville. Hellen confessed her faith as a Christian at an early age and held membership at various churches over her lifetime.

Hellen death is a milestone in the patriarchy of Sam Thomas as she was the last surviving member of a proud Thomas family who migrated to Jacksonville, Florida from Ty Ty, Georgia more than 100 years ago.

Hellen departed this life on Friday, November 1, 2019. She was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Lee Thomas; siblings, Ola Mae Thomas, Cleo Thomas, Essie Mae Thomas, Raymond Thomas, Beulah Nolan, Lois Edwards, James Thomas, and Dorothy Thomas.

Hellen leaves to cherish the memory of her abundant life: nieces, JoAnn Bolden, Annette Martin, Jeanette Armstrong, Karen Hines, Renita Murray, and Helen Bell; nephews, Raymond Thomas, Gary Thomas, Bernard Thomas, Harrell Thomas, Randy Thomas, James Thomas, and Sam Thomas; additionally, she is survived by a host of cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; she also is survived by a very special cousin, Mary Simmons.

The funeral service for Hellen Goss will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, November 12th, 2019 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Monday, November 11th, 2019 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
