Obituary for Herman Lee Priester

Mr. Herman Lee Priester was born in Allendale, South Carolina on June 24, 1947 to the late Luther Priester Sr. and the late Beatriz Priester. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his daughters, the late Delores Edwards – Chriswell and the late Cheryl Elbert, and his favorite uncle, the late Wallace Priester.

Herman attended schools in South Carolina and relocated to Jacksonville with his family in 1959. Herman loved the countryside but he settled into the city life as a young man. He soon began a career in building and construction and worked for the Calloway Construction as a machine operator for over 26 years before retiring in 2015. His favorite hobbies after retirement were working in his garden and traveling to South Carolina to visit family and till his land. He loved Deer.

Herman leaves to cherish his loving memory, his wife and faithful companion for 47 years, Mrs. Mary Elbert-Priester; daughter, Janice Elbert (William); sons, James Elbert(Gail) and Anthony Elbert.(Tracy); grandchildren, Tiffany, Earnest, Charles, Stannisha, Mario , Sherika , Anthony Jr., Brandii, O’teria, and Bianca; sisters, Annie Ruth and Luther Mae; brothers, Luther Priester Jr. ( Zuleca), Herbert Priester, and Richard Priester; aunt, Marie Williams, favorite aunt, Evenell Paterson; uncles, Henry Priester and Angus Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, and other sorrowing family and friends.

The funeral service for Herman Lee Priester will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday, October 17th, 2020 at the Samuel C. Rogers Jr. Memorial Chapel 4315 N. Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. The visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, October 16th, 2020 at the Funerals by T.S. Warden 4315 North Main Street Jacksonville, FL 32206. Interment in Restlawn Cemeteries South.
