Obituary for Ira Lee Walker

Ira Lee Walker was born December 1, 1943 to the late Willie Lee Coes Sr. and Ira Mae Releford Coes in Fernandina Beach, Florida. She graduated from Peck High School and attended the First Missionary Baptist Church.

Ira married Herman H. Walker, a United States Army Service member, and became a devoted spouse, traveling the world. Ira made Jacksonville, Florida her permanent home. She was ordained as a minister in the Church of God Sanctuary of Praise and was an active member of several local organizations. Ira genially loved others and unselfishly gave of herself.

Ira departed this life Wednesday, April 8, 2020 after a bout with cancer. Four brothers preceded her in death: Veotis Coes, Willie L. Coes, John R. Coes, and Ernest L. Coes. She leaves to cherish her memories, a husband of fifty-eight years, Herman H. Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; children: Iretta Roberts of Jacksonville, Florida; Herman H. Jr. (Dr. Joyce) Walker of Spring Lake, North Carolina; and Kenneth A. (Shirley) Walker of Jacksonville, Florida; brother, Reverend Leonard C. Coes of Cedartown, Georgia; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and sorrowing friends.
.
Favorite Scripture: 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV), “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.”

Dear Family
We pray God blessings of comfort and peace as you grieve, that you may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy the good that has been given. We pray (in time) you will be able to allow your tears of sorrow to become tears of sweet memories that you have from years gone by. We ask God to give you what you need as you go through this difficult time.
Our Deepest Sympathies.

Mr. Walker and Family...
Only God can understand your pain, your grief. Know that God is now, has been and always will be by your side, holding you in His love.
John 14:18-19 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and he world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
With Deepest Sympathy.

To the Walker family
At a time when words are hard to find, we pray that God's unchanging love and promise of eternal life will comfort and sustain you as you wait for the Lord's glorious appearing.
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. I Cor 2:9
